Types of online therapy available

  • Therapy can take many forms from treating children and adolescents to working with the entire family.

Family therapy is not about identifying the person with the “problem” but rather it is about helping the entire system to function at its most optimum level. This can be accomplished by identifying strengths in the system, establishing boundaries, equalizing power, and assisting all parties in communicating effectively. I enjoy helping families uncover their unique dynamics and flourish.

  • Individual therapy is a tool for nourishing yourself! Just like exercise, following good nutrition, having fun, and living a balanced life, therapy is a way of taking good care of yourself. Through my own experience personally and professionally, I have the deepest respect for the therapeutic relationship as it is unlike any other relationship in life. The therapeutic relationship is a unique rapport built on a sense of safety and trust.

People find themselves in therapy for many different reasons; grief/loss, divorce, life transitions, difficulty at work, trauma, depression, lack of motivation, anxiety, stress, and feeling unhappy or unfulfilled. Regardless of what brings you to the session, together we will build insight, develop self-awareness, and explore familial patterns and history, thus, helping you to better understand yourself and your behavior at a deeper more cognizant level. Not only can therapy help you gain insight and change problematic behaviors but it can also be fun! I bring a sense of genuineness and humor to the therapeutic setting as we work together to understand who you are and where you are going.

  • Couples therapy is an incredible tool to maintain a healthy relationship. Many people seek couples therapy as a last resort and/or final course of action. While couples therapy can be utilized in times of marital or relationship crisis, why wait for the ship to be sinking?

Couples therapy is a great way to maintain strong communication, deepen intimacy, resolve conflict, and share your hopes, dreams, fears, and concerns in a safe space, regardless of if your relationship is in a crisis state or not.

  • Group therapy involves one or more psychologists who lead a group of roughly 5 to 15 clients. Typically, groups meet for an hour or two each week. Some people attend individual therapy in addition to groups, while others participate in groups only.

Many groups are designed to target a specific problem, such as depression, obesity, panic disorder, social anxiety, chronic pain, or substance abuse. Other groups focus more generally on improving social skills and helping people deal with a range of issues such as anger, shyness, loneliness, and low self-esteem. Groups often help those who have experienced loss, whether it be a spouse, a child, or someone who died by suicide.
